Rhodes’s new International Airport was opened in the 1980’s due to the increase in passenger traffic to the island. The airport was built in a more convenient location than the previous one and has since its original construction, been extended and improved to better cope with the modern traveller. The airport has limited, though adequate, passenger facilities including a number of shops and cafes and a banking facility.

The village also has the added interest of only allowing donkeys, mopeds and bikes.
