Avis Budget Group joins Carbonfund in carbon offset scheme

Avis and Budget are set to offer their customers an opportunity to offset carbon emissions by making donations to Carbon
Avis Budget Group, the parent company of Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car, announced this week that it had joined forces with Carbonfund.org, one of the leading global non-profit organizations involved with providing carbon offset solutions. This new alliance is intended to enable Avis Budget to offer a range of carbon offset options to its retail and corporate customers, to make it possible for them to minimize the impact they have on the environment when they rent vehicles by the day, week or month.
"At Avis Budget Group, we are very concerned with how our business affects the environment," noted the chairman and CEO of the Avis Budget Group, Ronald L. Nelson. "Teaming up with Carbonfund.org will help us advance our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our fleet."
Car rental customers of Avis and Budget will be offered a way to make online donations to Carbonfund.org via the avis.com and budget.com websites. Customer donations will go directly to the purchase of carbon offset credits, a means of funding a number of environmental projects that focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
