European car-hire leader to offer electric vehicles.

European car hire company Europcar has just announced that it will soon be offering a pair of eco-friendly vehicles in its fleet. From next year, customers will be able to choose the Citroen C-Zero or Peugeot iON when hiring cars in Europe.

Both are electrically-powered vehicles and each has a range of up to 150kms on a single charge. The vehicles have no exhaust noise and produce no carbon-dioxide or other polluting emissions.

Following the introduction of the two new cars to its fleet, Europcar says it will gradually start installing the infrastructure needed to recharge the batteries on the cars across a network of 2,500 locations in Eurpe. Europcar demonstrates its commitment to supporting green transportation through the provision of green car hire.

Europcar is owned by France-based investment company Eurazeo. Since first launching an environmental station for electrically-power vehicles in Paris in 1999, Europcar has continued to pioneer the development of sustainable mobility. The latest partnership helps Europcar to further strengthen this strategy.

Europcar’s deployment of the Citroen C-Zero and the Peugeot iON was made possible by a partnership with PSA Peugeot Citroen. The deal to launch the two models into the auto-hire industry was clinched at signing during the Paris Motor Show.
