Car hire firm Sixt has launched its initial operations in Kenya.

The company said in a press release issued last week that the launch marks the 13th African country in which car rental customers can take advantage of Sixt’s “flexible and convenient mobility solutions”.

The firm’s first rental outlet in the country is already in operation at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the nation’s primary entry point. A second branch is already being set up in Mombasa, Kenya’ s focal point for tourism. Sixt officials said customers renting in Kenya can choose from a range of 30 Hyundai vehicles via the company’s website.

Sixt Kenya’s general manager Robert M. Onyono said in a statement that the opening of the new branch in Nairobi was a “milestone” for Sixt and that he and his staff’s experience would aide the franchise office to grow to the “next level” in terms of both customer satisfaction and size.

Similarly, Sixt Rent a Car’s franchise department head Detlef Krehahn said that the expansion would allow Sixt to provide high-quality mobility in one of the world’s most interesting markets for tourism.

Other African countries already featuring Sixt locations include Nigeria, South Africa, Angola, Madagascar, Morocco and Tunisia whilst a new branch is set to be opened soon in Ivory Coast.
