Car hire firm Thrifty has launched its first application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.

Car hire firm Thrifty has launched its first application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.

The news comes via an official press release issued on Friday, which said that the software enables users to take advantage of a simplified three step booking process an additional features such as the “Around Town City Guides”. Officials from Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group said that the launch comes as a result of collaboration and development with FKQ Advertising + Marketing.

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group chairman, president and chief executive Scott Thompson said in a statement that the “specially designed” application was just another convenience provided to the company’s customers. He added that Thrifty is always working to meet the changing preferences of consumers and that the mobile app comes in response to customers’ need to book products easily and quickly whilst on the go.

In addition to reserving vehicles, Thrifty app users can also modify reservations and can opt for add-on features such as GPS devices or car seats. Officials also said that corporate customers and Blue Chip members are able to make reservations according to negotiated rates.

Meanwhile, the Around Town City Guides help renters locate hotels, restaurants, special deals and hotspots in a number of major leisure destinations, according to the release.
