Car hire firm Europcar has announced the winner of its unprecedented ‘Caraoke’ competition.
Car hire firm Europcar has announced the winner of its unprecedented ‘Caraoke’ competition.
Officials from the company said this week that David Sodergren was indeed the UK’s best in-car singer. The news comes two months after the competition’s launch, in which the company asked participants to record themselves singing their favourite songs while driving.
Mr Sodergren will take home the grand prize of a brand new Fiat 500; his video managed to beat out 147 other video submissions. Officials said that the Caraoke videos combined for a total of 79,578 views on Youtube.
The competition also saw two special events – one in Birmingham last month and another in Kent in July – during which shoppers were encouraged to show off their own Caraoke skills.
Ken McCall, managing director for Europcar UK Group, said to media that the company was thrilled for David to be crowned champion and that he wanted to thank all that participated in the competition. He added that the move was part of the firm’s efforts to expand awareness about Europcar through social media, adding that since the launch of the contest that the company has enjoyed a 33 per cent jump in the number of ‘likes’ for its official Facebook page.
