Car hire firm Sixt has announced that it will open a new rental outlet at London’s Gatwick airport.

Officials from the German-owned firm said in a press released issued late last week that the new location would compliment its existing 4,000 branches around the globe including those at London’s Heathrow and Stansted airports.

The new branch at the West Sussex airport will begin operations in January. The outlet is one of only a handful of locations in the region in which passengers can directly access and drop-off vehicles from the terminal building, according to the release.

Gatwick airport’s head of surface transportation, Julia Gregory, said in a statement that her organisation was “delighted” to bring Sixt operations to the south London gateway. She went on to say that the brand is renowned for its “innovative approach” to serving customers and that the two groups would work together to ensure the best possible experience for passengers.

Likewise, Paul McLoughlin, managing director for Sixt’s UK operations, told the media that the launch was an “important milestone” for his company’s continued growth into the United Kingdom. He added that the new location would work to provide the “ultimate mobility solutions” for Gatwick passengers.
