Car rental firm Hertz has launched its electric Nissan LEAF car rental programme in the Italian city of Milan.

Officials from the global car hire brand said in a press release issued on Thursday that customers could now rent all-electric Nissan LEAF models in the city centre; hourly rates are available and the vehicle model can also be rented by the day. Additionally, LEAF renters can take advantage of Milan’s ZTL congestion zone programme, which includes cost-free parking in marked areas.

Those looking to take part in the ‘ElectriCity’ scheme can visit the company’s branch at the company’s branch at Via Cappellini 10, situated adjacent to the city’s central railway terminal.

Hertz International president Michel Taride said in a statement that the brand offers more electric rentals in more locations than any other car hire company. He went on to add that Hertz remains committed to providing eco-friendly mobility solutions and that by offering the LEAF and similar vehicles for rent that it helps to increase awareness of new green products and technologies.

The Milan ElectriCity scheme follows in the footsteps of similar Hertz programmes launched in London, Rome, Washington, New York and Paris over the last few years.
