Car hire firm Sixt is to begin renting state-of-the-art motorbikes

Car hire firm Sixt is to begin renting state-of-the-art motorbikes.

According to an official press release issued last week, the Pullach-based rental brand is entering the two-wheeled rental market by offering high-end BMW motorcycles at select outlets in Germany.

The announcement came on Friday in Berlin at the international travel trade show - ITB, during which Sixt chief operations officer - Detlev Pätsch, revealed details of the scheme alongside BMW Motorcycle’s head of sales in Germany - Henning Putzke.

The programme will officially begin in May; BMW Motorcycles will initially be available at Sixt locations in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Bonn and in the Rhine-Main area.

Models available will include the BMW HP 4 as well as the BMW S 1000 RR Superbike. Rental rates will range from €49 to €199 daily, according to the release.

Pätsch said in a statement that the move is the “next logical step” in Sixt’s ongoing partnership with BMW. He added that the company is confident that the scheme will be appealing to any and all motorcycle fans.
