Car hire brand Sixt has announced the opening of its first franchise location in the United States.
Officials from the firm said in an official statement released on Wednesday that the new Tampa location is officially ready to serve both leisure and business travellers. Located at Tampa International Airport, the launch marks the start of the firm’s ongoing North American franchise effort, according to the release.
Sixt’s vice president of North American operations Craig Olson said in a statement that Tampa is one of America’s top travel destinations. He went on to add that interest in the Sixt franchise network has been very strong throughout the US and that agreements have recently been signed in several exciting new locations, notably Las Vegas.
The firm also announced on Wednesday that the initial phases of the franchise programme are now underway in Canada. Mr Olson told the media that Sixt has “taken all the necessary steps” to begin establishing its presence in Canadian locations.
The company has opened numerous US locations since its initial launch in North America last year; outlets currently in operation include Phoenix, Orlando, Seattle, West Palm Beach, Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
