Car hire firm Europcar has reported a substantial increase in demand for Sunday rentals.

Car hire firm Europcar has reported a substantial increase in demand for Sunday rentals.

According to a BusinessCar report published on Wednesday, the company has seen demand for collections and returns on Sundays increase by nearly 30 per cent over the last three years.

Sunday is traditionally an off-day in the industry, particularly for off-airport locations.

Officials from the rental giant said in an press release issued this week that the figure demonstrates the importance of providing business and leisure customers the option to rent and collect at times that are most convenient.

Meanwhile, a former Europcar franchise location in Australia is facing a lawsuit for nearly AUD 200,000 (GBP 121,000) over allegations that the company was overcharging customers for repair costs.

Located in Tasmania, a federal court has released a statement that the firm had been misleading customers and was acting in "unconscionable conduct", according to news reports published midweek.
