One of the main attractions to the east side of Bodrum is its beach, added and artificially enhanced by the authorities. The area around the beach offers visitors numerous restaurants, bars and large nightclubs for the more frenetic visitors. A well known feature on the landscape of the area around Bodrum are the 18th century white windmills, constructed of stone and lined with wooden planks and found in various locations across the Bodrum Peninsular, were still being used until the 1970’s for grinding flour.
