German car hire provider Sixt has launched a new rental outlet in the Scottish capital.

German car hire provider Sixt has launched a new rental outlet in the Scottish capital.

The new location is located in the Royal Mile district in Abbeyhill and according to a press release issued late last week features a full array of Sixt rental vehicles for both leisure and business customers. Officials said that the location is especially convenient for those looking to visit the Palace of Holyrood landmark.

The new outlet is now the firm’s second location in Edinburgh and comes as the latest move amid the company’s ongoing UK expansion efforts.

Sixt UK’s managing director Paul McLoughlin said in a statement that the launch underlines his organisation’s commitment to offering a wide array of mobility options in one of Scotland’s most bustling cities. He added that Sixt was pleased to provide Edinburgh travellers and residents with more convenience and flexibility than ever before.

Reports said that the new branch will feature a wide array of economy cars, passenger vans and family vehicles, as well as a selection of premium choices with luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes.

The news comes just two weeks after another major expansion milestone for Sixt in the British Isles; last week saw the firm acquire Dublin-based County Car Rentals, bringing around two dozen jobs to the local economy, according to a press release.
