Car hire giant Hertz has teamed up with Chargemaster for its new car sharing scheme in Milton Keynes.

Car hire giant Hertz has teamed up with Chargemaster for its new car sharing scheme in Milton Keynes.

The new programme provides local residents with the opportunity to make use of the all-electric Nissan LEAF, with rental rates beginning at just £5 per hour, reports said on Wednesday. The rate includes insurance and cleaning charges and all other fees.

The environmentally friendly scheme comes in cooperation with Milton Keynes Council and is available exclusively to Hertz on Demand members. Those looking to book the LEAF can do so via the firm’s iPhone app, over the phone or online.

Hertz International president Michael Taride said in a statement that it was “a pleasure” to work alongside Milton Keynes Council in the effort of providing the best possible car sharing scheme to the local community. He added that the effort underscores the growing popularity of car sharing programmes as well as the desire for environmentally friendly, cost-effective transport.

Likewise, Chargemaster plc chief executive David Martell said that those making use of the scheme would benefit from being able to access charging locations throughout the region via the POLAR network, which includes 20 charging locations within Milton Keynes.
