Hertz

Hertz Corporation, the second largest car hire firm in the world and the oldest in the industry, was founded in 1918 in Chicago by 22-year-old Walter L Jacobs. Within five years, Jacobs had expanded the fleet of vehicles from 12 Ford Model Ts to over 600 cars of all shapes and sizes, and the company was sold to a certain John D Hertz. Today, the company owns 550,000 vehicles and has 7,600 locations in over 140 countries.

Formerly owned by Ford, it comes as no surprise that Hertz's fleet is primarily made up of Ford vehicles among other popular brands including Mazda and Toyota as well as luxury vehicles at selected destinations. At the top-end, you can drive away in a luxury car or a convertible. For the more budget conscious car renter, there are compact and economy cars. If you're travelling with your family, the SUVs or minivans are perfect.

You can book a vehicle with Hertz by telephone, in person or online. Booking online is the most cost-effective way to guarantee a car as there are often great online-only offers to take advantage of. Booking ahead will guarantee you the vehicle of your choice however there are usually family-sized vehicles available on-the-spot if you are on the move.

Vehicle insurance can be tailored to suit your individual requirements so you'll always have peace of mind. Hertz also offer a very quick and reliable breakdown recovery service that's available 24 hours.
